A favourite on Royal Canadian Air Farce and the star of The Holmes Show, Jessica Holmes has brought the house down opening for comedic giants such as Ellen DeGeneres, Russel Peters, and Jerry Seinfeld. Her hilarious take on life’s challenges as well as her unique knack for impersonating celebrities keeps her at the top of Canadian comedy.
Jessica broke into the comedy scene through The Second City, Just For Laughs, and TV shows like Little Big Kid and Itch. After releasing her comedy special Holmes Alone, Jessica landed her own sketch series, The Holmes Show, before joining the Royal Canadian Air Farce, Canada’s number one sketch comedy troupe.
As a performer, Jessica’s productions have garnered her a Platinum Award at The Worldfest International Film Festival and several nominations for Gemini Awards. She has also starred in the films Welcome to Mooseport, Citizen Duane, and Moonpoint. Jessica’s comedic prowess has made her a sought-after host and emcee, and she has worked with renowned celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra.
Behind the laughter, Jessica, like millions of Canadians, has struggled with depression. She is a celebrated voice in fighting the stigma surrounding mental health, openly sharing her personal stories with the humour she’s known for. In 2018, she became an ambassador for the Bell Let’s Talk campaign and published her memoir, Depression The Comedy: A Tale of Perseverance. In addition, Jessica supports Defeat Depression, a movement encouraging Canadians to donate to organizations that provide direct help to individuals affected by mental illness. Funds raised from the campaign support efforts aimed at preventing and treating depression as well as other mental illnesses.
A mother of two (and wife of one), Jessica is a pro when it comes to finding the humour in life’s imperfections. Her greatest joy though is helping people take simple, sustainable steps towards fulfilment and well-being, one laugh at a time.
