Manjit Minhas is a beer baroness turned “Dragon” on CBC’s hit TV show Dragons’ Den. A successful venture capitalist, Manjit shares her investing experience and expertise with millions of viewers each week around the world. With her wealth of business acumen and her entrepreneurial spirit, Manjit brings her enthusiasm and insight to all of her partnerships and events.
Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Manjit is the co-founder and co-owner of Minhas Breweries, Distillery and Wineries, which she started at 19 with her brother Ravinder. The company has over 90 brands of beers, spirits, liqueurs, and wines sold around the world. The siblings originally purchased the second oldest brewery in the United States in 2006, renaming it “Minhas Craft Brewery”. In their mid 20s when they bought it, the purchase officially made them the youngest brewery owners in the world at the time; it is now the ninth largest in North America.
Branching out into other ventures, Manjit also co-owns Spotlight TV and Film Production which creates, directs, and produces numerous documentaries, feature films, lifestyle programs, commercials, and corporate videos.
Never one to sit still, Manjit serves on the Board of Directors for Enbridge, ATB Financial, YYC Calgary Airport Authority and Decibel Cannabis. She also volunteers her time with Hull Mental Health Services — supporting children’s mental health — and the YWCA Cabinet Campaign. She has also served on the board of directors for many other organizations.
Recognized for her many achievements, Manjit has won several business industry awards, including the Canadian Business Icon Award; PROFIT magazine’s “Top Growth Entrepreneur”; Chatelaine’s Top Entrepreneur Woman of the Year; Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and even the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, to name just a few. Manjit was also appointed as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Queens Own Rifles in 2022.
Manjit resides in Calgary with her husband and their two young daughters.
